Minor B's enjoy Championship victory

Following on from the opening victory in the Minor Division 2 Championship, the Crokes B team next faced neighbours Ballinteer St Johns in Prc de Burca.  A beautiful Sunday morning with a slight wind blowing down the pitch, ideal conditions for hurling and neither side disappointed.

In a low scoring first half, where both sets of backs were on top, it was St John's, with the aid of the breeze,  who looked the better team and after ten minutes were 4 points to one to the good, however, Crokes started to claw their way back into the game and at the break it was 5 points a piece.

The second half opened as the first had completed, a tight affair with both sets of backs marshalling their opponents well, then six minutes into the half, a devastating five minute spell saw Crokes notch up two goals and two points, St Johns were playing catch up from that point on and with the Croke's backs still dominating their men, limiting St Johns to two points in the half, the forwards were also gaining the advantage and tagged on another one goal and four points to finish the game with a comprehensive scoreline of Crokes 3 - 11 to St Johns 0 - 7.

Overall, it was a very entertaining sporting game.  The win now guarantees Crokes a Championship quarter final, but first the team faces St Sylvesters in two weeks in the last group game, a side who have already beaten Crokes in the league and who have also won their two Championship group games.
