Match Report/ Match Highlights:

This was our second outing in the league, we lost our first game to Lucan Sarsfields ,so this was an important match to win.

Barry Mulligan gave a magnificent display in goals. There was a great display from all six backs. We dominated midfield with Eddie being the outstanding player on the day. Our forwards worked really well as a unit and were very unlucky not to score more. It has to be mentioned that our U 16 players had a significant input into this game. Our thanks to Pat Halpin and his mentors for their assistance here. This was a hard fought win on a sunny and windy morning.

Crokes selected to play against the wind in the first half, we started off well and we opened the scoring from a Seanie McGrath free on 4mis. Faughs replied with a point on 7 mins. Cillian Motherway took a great point after 8 mins. Faughs scored a point from free on 10 mins .On 12 minutes Cillian scored a great goal when he pulled on the ball to the roof of the net after Seanie crossed to him. Seanie and Darren scored two more points from frees over the next few minutes. Faughs replied with a point from a free on 20 mins. Seanie scored another point (F) on 23 mins. Faughs got a point from play on24 mins.Seanie scored two more points just before half time a flicked point from Cillian Doherty cross and a free. The score at half time was 1-7 to0-4.This was a very good performance in the first half and taking into account we were playing into a stiff breeze, at times we played some really good hurling.

We opened strongly in the second half, Seanie pointed from play on 31 mins and Ken Noctor  pointed on 32 mins. Faughs scored a  goal after KC failed to clear their lines on 34 mins. We had another Faughs point on 38 mins. The score now was 1-9 to1-5.Darren took a magnificent  point  from play on 41 mins and Seanie scored from a free on 43 mins Faughs scored 1 -2 over the next 8 mins, there was  only 1 point in it. Over the next few minutes Crokes responded well and were unlucky not to have scored 2 goals, one shot brilliantly saved by the goalkeeper and the other hammered off the crossbar. Our next scores came from a Darren point on 54 mins and a Bill O’Carroll point on 55 mins. Faughs pointed on 58 mins

The final score was 1-13 to 2-8.

Well done lads.
