Minor B's overcome Plunketts to notch up 2nd win in the league

The sun was shining as Crokes took to the pitch up in Silverpark on Sunday morning. Following the close victory over Clontarf in the last outing, management were hoping to continue on their rich vein of form and the players did not disappoint.

The opening ten minutes was a tight affair, with both sides trading 4 points a piece, Mikey Crowley being the main scoring threat with 3 of these and then Alex took control and notched up one goal and two points in a five minute spell to rattle Plunketts. But they responded with a goal to narrow the deficit to 2 points.  Crokes responded well and the remainder of the half was all Crokes; they added another goal (Barney) and 4 points, while limiting Plunketts to a further 2 points.  At half time, Crokes lead by 2-10 to 1-5.

It was Plunketts who were the better side in the opening period of the second half and they scored the opening two points, but Crokes pegged back 3 points before Plunketts scored another point plus a well taken goal, to narrow the gap to 5 points with 12 minutes to play, but Crokes again upped their game and kept Plunketts scoreless for the remaining of the game, while adding a further goal (Mikey) and 4 points to their tally.

At the final whistle, Crokes had a commanding winning score of 3 -17 to 2-08.  It was a fine game, played in a sporting and disciplined manner and at a very good standard.
