Minor B's Derby Duel - Shootout at Shankill

Body

Sunday February 26th 2012

On as fine a February day as you could ask for the Minor B Hurlers played their close neighbours and perennial rivals Cuala.

The Dalkey lads started off with a good tempo and relish in the opening minutes and were a couple of points to the good before Cathal-Keane Breslin got a fine score from the forty. However 2 goals within 10 minutes put Cuala into the ascendancy yet rather than let the game run away the Crokes responded with their best hurling for last quarter of the half wresting control in midfield they set up more chances up front – resulting in 2 goals from distance from Louis OSullivan and Ronan Horgan.  (H-T Cuala B 2.2 KC B 2.3)

The 2nd half In what was case of what I might have been , having more possession the Crokes rued missed chances and Cuala got back into the lead at the  end of a fine sporting game. Missing some of their regulars a lot of the players were playing minor for the first time – overall it was a good team  effort and noteworthy strong  performances from first year minors Horgan, Ó Murchú, Keane-Breslin, Bedford, Buckley and in particular Karl Doyle. Stand-in keeper Herlihy was also up to the task.
