Punchestown Race Day 2015 - what a day!

Body

Occasional showers fail to dampen high spirits as Hurling Section Chawke's up another great success!

The 12th Annual Kilmacud Crokes Corporate Race day, sponsored by Charlie Chawke and the Goat Bar and Grill, has to have been one of the best to date. Although the weather forecast was for heavy rain throughout the day, as it happens there were only occasional showers. And the Kilmacud Crokes Pavilion afforded patrons both warmth from the early summer chill and a great day's entertainment.

Great credit is due to the Crokes Organizing team for the long term planning and the last minute frenetic tweaks that always brings Punchestown together. We were well served and attended by Liam Holton and Jane Creighton's Punchestown hospitality  and Owen Mc Donnell's WithTaste Catering Team.

A significant contribution  was delivered by our phalanx of minor player helpers. They proved they are as much a credit to Kilmacud Crokes Hurling off the pitch as as on it. They were the onsite quick response team - allowing rapid deployment of posters, layouts, ushering, meet & greet, raffle & auction scramble and whatever else came up. Contenders for best dressed gents on the day
they were  Ben Rafter, Eamon Allen, Johnny Maher, Evin Comerford, Cian Ryan,
Darragh Kennedy, Ronan Hayes and David Dagg - the future of Kilmacud Crokes Hurling is in safe hands!

Thanks again to Diarmuid for capturing the essence and indeed fun of the day with his photo montage. MC Robbie Irwin kept patrons will informed and marshalled with all the races and activities. There was a great buzz and uptake with the raffle and Niall Gilligan wielded his hurley to great effect in bumping the auction along. Deirdre Lundon tracked all the winners and directed best dressed ladies and the novel best dressed gents shoot-out on stage.

There was great interest in the races and banter all the way into the evening culminating in the exodus back home; some more punctual  - for others, part of the punchestown craic, getting the bus is a treasure hunt.

A special thanks to all our patrons and guests for supporting our club and day.
