Rain fails to dampen spirits at PJ Troy Tournament
Heading towards July one might have expected suncream, t-shirts and shades to be the order of the day! However, the sun didn't show up at all at Ellenfield, home of Whitehall Colmcilles, for the PJ Troy Tournament. Heavy showers made conditions unpleasant at times, yet the quality of hurling on display was generally excellent.
Crokes beat Castleknock in their first 'round robin' game and followed up with an excellent win against St Vincents. Having won the group Crokes then faced rivals Ballyboden St Endas in a tough match. Boden proved just that little bit too strong, on a day when a number of our key players were unavailable. Almost immediately afterwards our lads faced Na Fianna. The three previous tough matches began to take its toll, with several players carrying knocks. Despite Crokes' best efforts and a one point half time lead, Na Fianna won out in the end.
