Reflection on Feile 2008

Body
It’s a measure of the standing of our U14 squad that for many losing out to James Stephens (the eventual winners) was a setback. From the outset we had the ambition to win All-Ireland Feile and can take pride in the preparation and all-round improvement in all our players. The real legacy will be what we take with us going forward. A year ago we were bustled out of our own Championship after winning our own 11-a-side event at the 7s. For the first time we have truly established ourselves within Dublin, defensively and competitively this team  has improved; and almost as a measure of life goes on the boys were still pucking the ball around at the semi-final, final and even the disco on the Saturday night.

Feile is also a great honour, almost old-fashioned in its return to hospitality.

We thank our hosts in Birr – the venue we hope our U13s will triumph in a year hence.

Finally apart from proving themselves to be among the finest hurlers of their age throughout the land, our boys behaviour was impeccable and they truly were ambassadors for their county and club. Credit goes to the management team for the training schedule and preparation all the way thru to the All-Ireland. Many of these players will also have the enjoyment of their 2nd All-Ireland outing with the footballers on July 4th – we wish them well.

A special thanks to the Parents, Club Support, Sponsors and the Organising Committee who made our Mid-Summer Feile of 2008 a lasting memory.
