Report Week Ending 15th May 2011

Body

This was a high octave week with seven adult championship games and two under 14 teams in Feile action.  It was also a very successful week as the under 14A’s claimed the club’s fourth Dublin Division 1 Feile na nGael title in seven years, the seniors notched two valuable championship points, the intermediates three and the Junior E’s four.

While the Feile final was ongoing the Juniors E’s maintained their 100% record in the 2011 championship with an emphatic 5-23 to 3-2 win over the same opposition.  There were strong performances from Ciaran O’Callaghan, Adrian Crean, Simon Rouse and Fionan Motherway.

At the same time the intermediates had it easier in their opener away to Clondalkin Round Towers where it ended 3-15 to 0-12.  For report see HERE

Islandbridge did not prove so hospitable for the junior A's where they lost by five points to Civil Service  (2-15 to 1-13), having led by the minimum at the break.  The evening before the Junior E’s got the 2011 adult hurling championship off to a winning start for the club with a 1-20 to 2-8 victory over Erin Go Breagh in Silverpark.  For report see HERE

Silverpark was the place to be on Saturday 14th May 2011.  Before lunch the venue accommodated six Division 1 Feile games at the end of which Crokes and Lucan Sarsfields progressed to the following day’s semi finals.  For report see HERE.  Their B colleagues put up a great show and were a little unlucky not to come out of their Division 3 group at Clondalkin.  For report see HERE.

Click here for photos of the Seniors v Boden!Evening activity at the Leopardstown venue opened with the seniors’ AHL1 match against Ballyboden which commenced at 5.00pm.  At the break Crokes led 0-7 to 0-5.  A forty fifth minute goal from Shea Gillen made it 1-9 to 0-7.  The Stillorgan team outscored Boden by double scores in the last quarter to end 1-11 to 0-8 to the good.  Kevin O’Loughlin, particularly in the first half, William McEvoy, Dillon Mulligan and Jude Sweeney were to the fore.  For pictures see HERE.

Click here for images of the Intermediates v PeregrinesAt 6.30pm the intermediates and Junior A’s faced Naomh Peregrines and Na Fianna in their respective championships.  By now a strong wind was blowing from the Sunshine Home end.  With the favour, the inters dominated possession but a high wide count left them just 0-5 to 0-1 clear at half time.  They scored the first point of the second half and were still 0-9 to 0-6 ahead with ten minutes remaining.  Three late overs from the Mulhuddart men meant a share of the spoils, 0-9 each.  Leading lights included Shane McNicholas, Dave Canny, Aidan McCarthy, Mark Coghlan, Hugh Gannon, Alex Pilkington and Sean Garvey.  For pictures see HERE

In Silverpark 2 a late rally by the Junior A’s was not enough to reel in Na Fianna as they went down 1-16 to 2-12.  The visitors were 1-7 to 1-1 ahead after fourteen minutes.  That, plus their greater return when aided by the elements, proved too much for a gallant Crokes side.  For report and photos see HERE

On Thursday evening the under 11’s helped Scoil San Treasa in their preparations for Friday 27th May’s Croke Park final with a challenge in Deerpark.
