Week Ending 21st February 2010

Wednesday 17th February 2010 brought an end to 2009 hurling business as the seniors defeated Naomh Fionnbarra by 2-17 to 0-11 at Inisfails’ grounds in Balgriffin. This was a must win game for the club. With Kevin O’Loughlin scoring freely and Ronan Walsh not far behind him in his impact on the game the business was done and the spectre of relegation to Division 2 staved off. For report see HERE

On Sunday 21st February 2010 in Silverpark Crokes opened their 2009 Corn Ceitinn account with a 0-12 to 0-7 victory over Na Fianna. For Evening Herald report see http://www.herald.ie/sport/hurling/kilmacud-strength-in-depth-definitive...

 Presentation Night

Glenalbyn was abuzz on Friday 19th February 2010 as Dublin manager, Anthony Daly, visited the club. First of all Anthony hosted an informative and entertaining talk/question and answer session in the club bar for over 60 mentors dealing with a host of topical issues. While this was going on the 2009 minor county champions and 2008 Dublin Feile na nGael champions and their parents were guests of Kilmacud Crokes Hurling at a celebratory meal in the function room. When it came to medal presentation Anthony did the honours with aplomb and spoke eloquently. We thank him for being so generous with his time and so courteous particularly to our youngsters. Other speakers included Pat Halpin, manager of the under 18 squad, 19 of whom featured in the panel's wins all the way up through under 13 PJ Troy, under 14 Dublin and National Feile na nGael together with county championship, under 15 county championship, under 16 county championship and minor county championship plus several league titles, Tom Murphy, selector, Tom Barry, chairman Kilmacud Crokes Hurling. The evening was compered by Kevin Coakley and also in attendance were Tipperary's Tommy Dunne and Richard Stakelum. For pictures see http://pix.ie/kchurling/album/369439
