Report Week Ending 23rd January 2011

Body

Five “halves” could not separate two teams who gave it their all at Bray on Saturday evening 22nd January 2011 in the final of the 2010 Leinster 3G Under 16 Tournament. After 79 minutes of great hurling there was nothing between Crokes and Ballyboden and two gallant teams shared the trophy. Many thanks to all involved in organising a superb tournament in particular Lester Ryan of the Leinster Council and John Henderson from the host club Bray Emmets. For report see HERE

The following morning the 2010 under 21’s, bolstered by a few seniors, were in Silverpark to face Na Fianna seniors in a challenge game.  Despite a soft turf, both teams played with commitment and, for a January game, there was plenty of hurling skill on show.  The visitors won by a point despite the best efforts in particular of William McEvoy, Jack Doughan and Adrian Grogan in defence with Kevin O’Loughlin, Naomhan O’Rearden and Sean Murphy always looking dangerous up front.

On Sunday afternoon Dublin’s 2010 competitive season got under way with a Walsh Cup victory over Antrim at Parnell Park.  Crokes Niall Corcoran, Ryan O’Dwyer and Conor Clinton saw action for the Dubs.  For report see HERE.  Dublin take on Galway in the semi final in Parnell Park on Saturday 29th January 2011 at 5.30, the first game in a double header to be followed by the O’Byrne Shield Football final where Dublin will play Meath.

At the same time the club’s senior footballers annexed their fourth Leinster Club Senior Football title with an impressive win over Rhode from Offal in Portlaoise.  Well done to all connected with this exemplary team.  For hill16.ie report see HERE
