Report Week Ending 24th April 2011
The calm before the storm. With
- The National Hurling League Final (Sun 1 May)
- Punchestown (3 May)
- The First Round of the Senior Hurling Championship (Wed 11 May), and
- The Dublin Feile na nGael Finals (15 & 16 May)
on the horizon this was one of the last quiet playing weeks for some time.
The only teams in action were the intermediates and the under 14B’s and A’s.
Continuing their championship preparations the intermediates took on St Patricks from Wicklow in Silverpark on Thursday 21st April 2011. At the end of a worthwhile game Crokes won 2-18 to 1-10, having trailed 1-7 to 1-6 at the interval. For report see HERE
The under 14 squads drew the curtain down on their jaunt to Cork with games on Monday 18th April 2011 against Carrigtwohill and Killeagh respectively. Against the former, at 10am, the B’s went down 7-9 to 2-10 (half time 4-8 to 0-4) with Hugh Campion, Oisin Doherty, Killian Lanigan and Joey Dalton to the fore. After lunch the two squads reached Killeagh where the A’s prevailed 4-19 to 3-5, having been up 3-7 to 1-2 at the break. Starring were Cathal Keane, Darragh Butler and Killian Lanigan.
Allianz National Hurling League Final
Make a day of it!
Highlight of the week ahead is the Allianz National Hurling League Final – Dublin –v- Kilkenny in Croke Park. We are extremely well represented on the panel with players Niall Corcoran, Ryan O’Dwyer, Ronan Walsh, Conor Clinton and Barry O’Rorke, selector Richie Stakelum and team doctor Chris Thompson. It is important for the club that we go along to cheer and give them all the support we can.
To mark the event the Under 8s, 9s, 10s and 12’s are organising games, all of which are envisaged to be played in Pairc De Burca from 11.30am onwards. They are also organising other fun events with a view to encouraging families in particular to come along.
The proposed agenda for Sunday is as follows;
11.30 – 14.00 U8 – U12 Hurling Matches
12.30 – 14.30 BBQ – (Burgers, Hot Dogs and Refreshments)
12.30 – 14.30 Children’s Face Painting
14.30 Buses leave for Croke Park (€5 per adult return, children under 12 free). NB bus places must be pre-booked
