Report Week Ending 26th September 2010

Body

The younger teams took centre stage this week with the plaudits going to the minor A’s who racked up their second round robin championship win with victory over Erins Isle in Silverpark on Sunday morning 26th September 2010.

After ten minutes the omens were not good as Crokes trailed by two points to no score and the Finglas lads looked on top in all sectors.   Slowly the Stillorgan team fought its way back and led by four points, 0-8 to 0-4, at the short whistle.  A quick goal and point put daylight between the sides and Crokes powered on to a 2-14 to 1-8 win.  For report see HERE

The minor B’s were away to Raheny in St. Annes Park.  An exciting game ended all square 4-11 to 3-14.  At half time Crokes led 1-7 to 0-6.  Starring for the Kilmacud lads were Daibhid Corish, Niall Carr, Eoghan O’Dwyer, Conal O’Neill, Jamie Clinton and CJ O’Dwyer.  With one point from a possible four it is all down to the last game in terms of progression.

It was not such a good day for the under 15’s as they went down 4-14 to 1-10 to Cuala in Shankhill in their championship quarter final.  For pictures see HERE

In the afternoon the seniors travelled to Moibhi Road for a challenge against Na Fianna.

On Saturday 25th September 2010 the under 16’s beat Oliver Plunketts/Eoghan Ruadh in the Shield at Glendhu by 2-14 to 3-7.  Crokes opened with a quick goal and point.  The concession of two goals put them on the back foot.  They recovered to lead 2-6 to 2-2 at the interval.  The second half was a case of grind it out and a late goal from a 20 metre free was not enough to save the homesters.  Best for Crokes were Daibhid Corish, Andrew Colclough, Philip O’Shea, Louis O’Sullivan, Conor O’Dwyer and Ross McGowan.

Team:

R Murphy, M Collins, D Corish, A Colclough, P O’Shea, J Murphy, L O’Sullivan, C O’Dwyer, KJ McGowan, N Gorey, C Gormley, T Barry, R McGowan, B Horan, CJ O’Dwyer.  Subs: A Spollen for C Gormley, C Gormley for A Spollen, D Paisley.

The under 14A’s were somewhat fortunate to draw with Ballyboden in League Division 1, 1-11 to 0-114.  Crokes trailed 0-8 to 1-4 at half time.  Leading performers included Eamonn Allen, Ryan Murphy, Daniel Coakley and Michael Crowley.  In Division 3 the B’s went under to table toppers Naomh Fionnbarra at John Paul Park.

The two under 13 Division 1 teams fielded.  In Deerpark Kilmacud Crokes A overcame Lucan by 3-13 to 1-6.  At Pairc Naomh Uinseann the B’s overcame St Vincents by 6-12 to 4-8.  The following morning the combined team defeated the South Dublin Development squad in a 70 minute challenge at UCD, 7-20 to 3-9.
