Report Week Ending 3rd October 2010

Body

Saturday 2nd October 2010 provided very agreeable outcomes for Kilmacud Crokes hurling.  Both senior and intermediate teams booked championship semi final places and the under 15’s won the Naas tournament.

The seniors beat St Brigids by 1-16 to 0-15 in Parnell Park.  For much of the game they found it difficult to shake off the opposition and a goal from scorer-in-chief Kevin O’Loughlin in the fifty third minute proved decisive.  At the break Crokes led 0-8 to 0-6.  For report see HERE

The intermediates were 2-4 to 0-6 to the good at half time against Naomh Barrog at Silverpark and ran out 2-10 to 0-9 victors.  On a day when the entire team worked hard there were stellar performances from Brian Hanamy, Aidan McCarthy, Declan Browne and Fergus Garvey.  For report see HERE.

From Naas the under 15’s brought home the silverware with an 0-9 to 0-2 triumph over Douglas from Cork in the final of a six team tournament.  Along the way Crokes overcame Galway’s Turloughmore (1-5 to 0-1), hosts Naas (2-7 to 0-5), Dublin’s St Judes (0-10 to 0-4) and Kildare (3-6 to 2-7) while losing their group game to Douglas 1-10 to 2-5.  The games were fifteen minutes aside and on a day of some heavy showers every one fo the seventeen strong squad played his part.  Well done to all concerned and our thanks to Naas.

A bright and sunny Sunday 3rd October 2010 featured a championship semi final for the Junior E’s and tournaments for the under 11’s and under 8’s.  The Junior E’s exited in the cruelest of fashions through the concession of a late goal to St Patricks Palmerstown in O’Toole Park.   For report see HERE

The under 8’s emulated their under 15 counterparts by coming home victorious from the Cuala family fun day beating the hosts in a very exciting final.  For report see HERE.  In Pairc de Burca the under 11’s began the Autumn Hurling Festival by hosting teams from  Portumna, Fermoy, O' Loughlin Gaels, Na Fianna, Athenry and Toomevara.  For report see HERE.

Earlier in Pairc de Burca the Junior A’s went down by 4-17 to 2-11 in a challenge against Glenealy from Wicklow.

A meeting for parents of new boys who have recently started at the Kilmacud Crokes Hurling Nursery was held in Glenalbyn on Tuesday September 28th.  At the meeting Hurling Coach Niall Corcoran outlined the coaching aims that we are trying to achieve within the nursery as well as outlining how the hurling nursery is structured.  We got a good response from parents that were willing to help out in the nursery, which is crucial to the success of the nursery.

We would encourage anybody who is interested in giving a hand out at the nursery to make him or herself known to Niall or the head coach organising a particular skills station on the morning.

When parents and children arrive in the morning, Marion will be taking the registration for both the 2005 & 2004 groups.  If anybody is in a position to help with registration please make yourself known to Marion at the start of the session.

A Foundation Coaching Course will commence on Oct 12th.  Anybody interested in attending the course please contact Niall Corcoran directly at 087 9834287
