Scores were at a premium.  It took seven minutes for the first to come and the same time for the second to put Vins into a two point lead.  Shortly after, the home team pulled one back through Conor Clinton and were level courtesy of Sean McGrath, set up via a Ronan Walsh run, on nineteen minutes.  With twenty five minutes gone it was 0-3 each with both sides racking up wides – seven for Crokes and five for the opposition.  Vincents saw out the half stronger and forged an interval lead of 0-6 to 0-3.

Crokes introduced Ross O’Carroll for the second half and made a number of positional switches.  Niall Corcoran went to full back, James Burke to midfield, Donal McGovern to right half forward, Ross O’Carroll to centre forward and Sean McGrath to full forward.    Vincents took the initiative.  On the three quarter mark they led 0-11 to 0-4.  When Crokes registered a point, quickly followed by a Barry O’Rorke goal, in the forty eight minute the gap was down to a single score.  That was as good as it got as the umpires were not required to reach for their flags again although the Marino men did send six balls wide in the remaining time.  Most prominent for Crokes were Shane O’Rorke, Adrian Grogan and Richard Sweetnam.

Team:
