U10s win Michael Laffen Tournament

Body

The U10s sent a strong panel to Glynn-Barntown on Saturday May 23rd to the Michael Laffan Memorial Hurling Tournament.

Played in glorious sunshine on an impeccable surface the ‘Crokes lads out battled, out fought and out hurled all before them to record an impressive tournament win. The host club were first up in the group games and after some early scares the Kilmacud outfit gained the upper hand and finished well. Naomh Brid from Carlow were next up but ‘Crokes proved too strong for this very young team. O’Loughlin Gaels provided the opposition in the last group game and came looking for revenge after being beaten by the Dublin opposition on their home patch on GoodFriday. With the game finely balanced Crokes 0-3, OLG 1-0 coming up to half time 2 quick goals gave Crokes a good platform at the break. A determined effort from the restart ensured there would be no comeback and the Easter result was repeated. A final was set up against Naas, who had accounted for a decent Rower-Inistioge team in the final group game. Crokes never let the Kildare outfit get into their stride in this game and came in at the break 9 points ahead. The young Stillorgan men displayed maturity and calmness beyond their years in their discussions at half time that ensured no complacency would creep in and a very strong 3rd quarter put the result beyond doubt.  Congratulations to all concerned and thanks to Glynn-Barntown for organising this fantastic event.
