Victories over Clanna Gael Fontenoys and Ballyboden St Endas

The under 11 hurlers from Panel A travelled to a sun-baked Sean Moore Park on Saturday (8th) to take on Clanna Gael / Fontenoys [CG/F]. A cracking exhibition of hurling, to match the day's weather, ensued. From the start, Brendan Scanlon and Rory O'Mahony dominated mid-field from where they launched raids on the opposition goal and notched up several fine points in the process. However CG/F were undaunted and managed a couple of scores themselves despite staunch defense from Oscar O'Laoide and Mike Lynch in the full back line and Jack Tiernan in goals. Meanwhile, up front, Conn Lohan and Adam Crowe were making life difficult for the home team's defenders leading to a couple of hard-earned goals for Crokes and ultimately a slender half-time lead.

In the 2nd half David Curtin and Daire McNulty moved into the forwards and worked well together while David Tracey and Ben Marnell tracked their men diligently in defense. On a beautiful morning for hurling, with the mentors busy with the water bottles, the game ebbed and flowed with some fine skills on display from both sides. At the final whistle there was some trepidation as the ref added up the scores, but it was the Crokes boys who emerged with a deserved 2 point victory.

Also in Deerpark the Panel B teams 1 & 2 both hosted Ballyboden. Team 1 had a comprehensive victory where all players made a great contribution and Team 2 came from behind to secure a great double for the Purle n Gold.
