Under 11 Hurling 2 Games versus Cuala in Deerpark

Date 21st April 2007

Game 1 Result - Cuala 2-4 Kilmac 2-2

The game got off to a cracking start, with Crokes under pressure in the back line. Pete Moloney and Stephen Doyle featured strongly in the early part, with some good clearances. Cuala's number 7, Daithi Ó Murchú was playing particularly well and was giving Crokes some real problems. Peter Herlihy had a good first half in mid field, hit some good ball and it was from one of these balls that Shane Vallum got a good goal. Cuala retaliated by getting another good goal just before the first half ended. This was despite some great play by Jack Fagan and Mattew Redmond. Jack was in the wars getting hit on the foot on two separate occasions. Again Pete Moloney provided some great clearing runs. Sean Keating and Stephen Doyle were by this time paying close attention to Cuala’s number 7 and the game was neck and neck ending the half 1-02 each.

Half time subsitutions were Adam O Neill and Eamonn Allen. They hurled some good ball, with Adam unlucky not to score a couple of points. A great ball over the top soccer style put Eoin McMahon in space and a great goal was scored. Cuala however were in sparkling form and scored a further 1-02 to Crokes 1-00 and were the winners.

Man of the match for Crokes was Stephen Doyle who did very well. A close second was Ruari Geraghty who played particularly well on goal and pulled off some great saves.

Game 2 - Cuala 5-2,  Kilmac 8-3

This was literally a game of two halves. Kilmac got off to a great start with 3 quick goals. The second half was very much a fight back from Cuala. Ryan Murphy for Crokes was the man of the match with Eamonn Allen and Adam O Neill doing very well in the first half. Mark McCallion did well in goal, with Tom Duke, Des Dagg and Stephen O Herlihy in lively form.
