U11s record win against Trinity Gaels

Body

An U11 team travelled across to Drumnigh Road on Saturday morning for a Cup match against Trinity Gaels in Divison A of the one team groupings. Despite very good performances, the team had been unlucky not to record wins in their previous two outings (a draw with Bray Emmets and a one point defeat to Balinteer/St Johns) so they were determined to ensure that they finished up on the right side of the scoreline in this match.

Under blue skies and playing into a slight breeze, Crokes got off to a great start with a typical opportunist goal from the ever alert James Callanan after just one minute of the game. Harry Doyle added scores mid way through the half with two nicely taken points from the half forward line, however the rest of the half proved to be competitive affair during which their were solid performances in the Crokes defence from Aran Murphy, Owen Shearer and Robert Kent.

With some positional changes at half time Crokes moved up another gear in the second half and it wasn't long before Sean Burns hit the net with a well struck ground shot. At this stage Barry MacGabhann and Eoin Buggy were well on top in the middle of park and a point by the lively Hugh Bermingham was soon followed by a second goal for Sean Burns. With five minutes to go Tom Kehoe found some space on the half forward line to score a lovely point and soon after Sean Burns once again popped up in the right place to blast home his third goal of the match. Thanks to some strong defending from Oisin Murray and Yasin Siegrist, Crokes were able to finish out the match without conceding a score.

The lads were well supported on the morning by an enthusiastic group of parents - Walter Kent, Sean Callanan, David Doyle and Enda Burns.
