U14s draw with Castleknock, 15 May 2007

Body

We gathered for a League fixture after the Feile weekend when both teams would probably have enjotyed a break.

A fine evening and Castleknock managed to get across the city traffic without too much trouble.

Kilmacud commenced the match with many players who had not participated in the Feile matches, taking the field. Castleknock as Dublin Feile champions started off with the usual gusto and knocked over a few points without reply from Crokes. It was about 10 minutes into the match before Crokes got underway and got 'stuck in' to the play.We slowly pegged back the lead but Castleknock still led at half-time.

Alex Pilkington had a wonderful game yet again after his wonderful diplay at the Feile.
In the 2nd Half Castleknock kept scoring to keep the differential at 4 points. Then the Crokes players really lifted their game and Niall Carr took 2 wonderful goals. John Huban gave a great display in midfield with Alex. We had 2 goals disallowed in the 2nd half - a dubious square ball which the referee ruled out; the other, a ball that had gone under the crossbar but over-ruled by the Castleknock umpire when his own goalkeeper threw up his arms in despair.

The match ended in a draw Kilmacud Crokes 2-8 Castleknock 1-11 but we displayed that we are well up with the best.

The back line of Cian Delaney, Sean Boyd and Conal O'Neill played well and other good displays from Emmet O'Doherty and Oisin O'Carroll.
