Match Report / Match Highlights:

Ballinteer travelled for a match at 6.30 pm in Silverpark on a bright, dry evening. The grass had been cut in the morning so the pitch was in perfect condition for hurling.
A Splendid victory over Ballinteer - not just the scoreline but how we controlled the match and defended to keep scores against us very low.

A great performance from our U14 Hurlers in the Quarter-final of the Championship. A good team performance with some outstanding displays particularly in the forward line from Jamie Clinton and Fionan Motherway.

In defence Paddy Tighe kept a safe goal and Conal O'Neill gave a a quality display at corner-back; his touch and anticipation was brilliant. Not far behind were Cian Delaney, Oisin O'Carroll and Emmet Doherty but overall it was a good team performance.

A see-saw battle for the first 10 minutes with Crokes  registering the first few points.Ballinteer were wide of the mark with a few shots.Crokes looked the more threatening however and we would have notched up a few more early scores but for some good defending by Ballinteer and a few good cathes by their goalkeeper.

Crokes were generally dominant over the first 15 minutes and  eventually broke through to score their first goal. KJ McGowan was disappointed to see a great shot at goal hit the post and fly across the goalmouth. For the rest of the first half Crokes gradually took control and with a further goal and some well taken points Crokes led 2-09 to 0-2 at the interval.

We became more dominant as the 2nd half progressed and kept plugging away with a few extra points and another goal. While Ballinteer made great efforts to get back in the game, our backs fought hard to repel any attacks with Sean Boyd at full-back keeping the full-forward from scoring. We kept the 2nd half scores against us down to
0-3 which was testament to great enthusiasm and effort in the back line.Chasing, blocking and harrying of the opposition was effective.
While we were well on top, we utilised a number of substitutions who equally displayed great effort and enthusiasm to ensure a great victory.

This was effective hurling.Crokes backs batted down high balls well and loose ball was picked up.We had a number of good hand passing moves and players looking out for each other. While there were the usual few fouls it was not a dirty game and a credit to both sets of players.Every one played very well. All the forwards contributed as can be seen from the various scores and the others provided good support.
