Match Report / Match Highlights:

We travelled for a match at 11.30 pm to Bray at their new grounds and spacious new clubhouse. A bright morning after a day of constant rain through Saturday and into the early hours of Sunday. The pitch was in reasonable condition despite the rain the day before and the wind blowing more or less across the pitch. As an official referee had not been appointed, Pat Halpin kindly agreed to referee the match as he was going out anyway. It was just as well as some disputes ensued later.

A great victory over Bray Emmets. Bray got the first score with a point but we held them scoreless from then until late in the first half. We racked up a good few scores before half-time, including 2 goals. Unfortunately we lost Fionan Motherway before half time through injury as he took a large hit in the chest as he scored a goal.Luke Hyland from the Under14 squad substituted and we were glad to have him. Bray were reduced to 14 men just before the end of the first half after their centre-half and probably best player, made a wild strike on Oisin O'Carroll across the back. Caelan Conway, also from the Under14 squad had togged out but could only play during the first half due to a prior commitment.

We commenced the 2nd half with 14 men as Fionan was unable to continue and we did not wish to risk further injury.

Kevin Coakley from the Minors who was on the sideline, happened to mention that Bray seemed to be dominating us in numbers on some tackles; after a count we realised that Bray put 15 men back on the pitch for the 2nd half. Once again Pat Halpin as referee had to step in. We got 2 early goals which settled the game for us and continued to rack up more points. Midway through the 2nd half, we lost Barry O'Farrell after a loose strike on a Bray player so we were down to 13. While we let in a goal, the game was out of reach. We lost our shape with the depletion in numbers. Paddy Tighe was called upon to make a few good saves and our backs were dominant in clearing most balls.
Alex Pilkington and John Huban kept control of midfield. Emmet Doherty dominated the centre and showed a great work rate and control of his area.

We were very grateful to the Under14 Management for their assistance and delighted with the performance of Caelan and Luke. We were also extremely grateful to Pat Halpin for dealing with some difficult situations and maintaining calm.
