Match Report/ Match Highlights:

This was Crokes second outing in the second round of the championship. I believe we were not favorites to win this one; anyway that tag did not affect the lads who gave in a prolific performance to come out on top in this game.

This was a hard fought feat on the night in wet and windy conditions. Well done to James who played great on the night in goals. There was a great display from our full back line of Niall, Shane and Arthur. Paddy Igoe was superb at centre back and was well supported by Alan and Gary (replaced Richie on 20 mins). Our midfield of Kevin (outstanding) and Cillian ( replaced by Fiachra on 55mins) gave a battling performance against stiff opposition. Barra, Timmy (replaced on 40mins by Ben) and Niall Mulligan (replaced Ken on 25mins) worked tirelessly for the team. The inside line of Eoin, Niall G (replaced by Brian on 35mins)and Chris worked very hard..

Our thanks to the input of Tom Mc Intyre on the night, who gave the management good advice which turned the game around with about 10 mins to go.

The game itself was a very close encounter; Crokes had to scrap very hard for every piece of possession. Crokes played against the wind for the half. St Pats opened the scoring after 10 mins with a point. Timmy got the equalizer some two minutes later. Pats took the lead again after 17 mins and Kevin converted a free after 23 mins. Some few minutes later Pats scored another point to leave the score 3 points to 2 in favour of Pats and that’s the way it finished at half time. Throughout the first half our back line defended stoutly as a group to deny the opposition many scoring chances.

Crokes started the second half strongly and we scored the first two scores through Barra and Kevin. Over the next 10 minutes our backs sustained a lot of pressure from Pats until they eventually drew level on 45mins. Crokes went ahead on 48 mins through an interchange of passes between Ken and Niall Mulligan who scored a good point off his left side. Pats scored another point from play a few minutes later; this was to be there last score. At this time, management moved Brian Hanamy to centre forward, Barra to left half and Eoin to full forward, this move turned the game in our favour. After this, we scored three points through Kevin (2) one free, Barra contributed the third from a poor clearance.

Well done lads; we are a hard team to beat, keep it up.
