U8 Hurling Newsletter - September 2012

Body

Just a short newsletter to welcome back all our hurlers after the Summer Holidays. Hope you all had a nice break and are ready to get back to some serious hurling.

Over the summer we went on some great trips down to our country cousins in Kilkenny, Gorey and Naas and also welcomed up Craughwell from Galway. These games were very worthwhile and we got great preparation in for our upcoming Go Games in Dublin.

Upcoming Go Games and Tournaments

We have Hurling Go Games coming up on the following dates the 15th of Sept, 29th of Sept, 13th of Oct .The last Go Game of the year is currently scheduled to go ahead on the 3rd November 2012.

Festival of Hurling

On the 28th of October 2012, we have our own Invitational Tournament as part of the annual Festival of Hurling.

This will be held in Pairc De Burca and it is our opportunity to invite clubs from all over Ireland to come and participate. Invitations are gone out already and it is hoped that we will have a wide selection of teams from a number of different counties. A large volunteer effort will be required on this date with the running of pitches and catering so everybody’s help would be appreciated.

Training

Training will continue in Oatlands every Thursday for the next number of weeks commencing at 6.30pm sharp and finishing at 7.30pm. This slot will change in October when the winter time comes in but we will endeavour to let you know well in advance.

There is also Sunday morning training in the Paddock at 10am. This is very worthwhile for the boys as we get to work closer with them on their skills due to the smaller numbers that turn up.

Homework!

We would also suggest that parents encourage the kids to practise their skills when at home, either with their friends or out against a wall if you have one nearby.

As always, we would also ask or invite parents who attend the training sessions to make themselves known to the mentors if they are in a position to assist with the training. Also we would ask that if there are any young boys in the locality that would be interested in playing hurling that they be encouraged to take it up in Kilmacud Crokes.

Regards,

2004 Kilmacud Mentors
