U9s have a Tipp-Top Day

The U9s were on the road again; Read Diarmuid Walsh's report below

The Under 9 Hurlers continued their travels on the road this May Bank Holiday weekend. Following on from recent trips to Ballygunner in Waterford, Oulart the Ballagh in Wexford and Dicksboro in Kilkenny this week saw the boys travel to Cashel King Cormacs. Cashel are old rivals for this group having met at previous tournaments last year and losing by a single score to them in the final of an Oulart tournament last October.

Two Kilmacud Crokes Teams took to the field and some fine hurling was on display. Both matches were very competitive right up until the final whistle with one narrow win and one defeat recorded. Afterwards our hosts treated us to tea, sandwiches and goodie bags and promised to see us later on in the year when Tipp made it to Dublin!! As always no shortage of confidence from our Tipp friends

Then it was on to Thurles to watch yet another cracking game between Tipperary and Kilkenny. Despite the excitement of the Bus breaking down on a roundabout just outside the stadium we still managed to make it to the game in good time and were very lucky to witness once again a great match between these two rivals. The boys spent much of the match behind the Kilkenny dugout and selectors team so no doubt will have much to share with the mentors when back at training next.

Supermacs in the square in Thurles followed by a table quiz on the Bus home rounded off a great day for parents, players and mentors alike.

The Boys are off the road now for a couple of weeks to concentrate on First Communions and Go Games, but plan further road trips in late May and throughout the summer. Keep an eye out for details.
