Match Report/ Match Highlights:

On a typical showery Autumn afternoon we entertained St Brigid’s in Oatlands College.  Crokes started well and laid siege to the Brigid’s goal but it took 15 minutes to register the first goal when the Brigid’s goalie stopped a Thomas Campion shot and James Murphy was on hand to finish to the net.  Shortly afterwards the Crokes lead was extended when a superb line ball by Conor O’Byrne was exquisitely doubled over the bar by Michael Herlihy.  Just before half time the same player added to his tally with a well taken goal leaving it 2-1 to no score at half time.

Throughout the game the Crokes defence was strong.  Neil Gorey in goal was rarely troubled and did what he had to do with authority.  Full backs Peter Fay, Conor Sweeny, Peter Hanly and Daibhid Corish were impregnable while half backs Louis O’Sullivan, Oisin O’Rorke, Mark Collins, Gareth Henry and Conor O’Dwyer left little pass.  At midfield Ross McGowan and Conor O’Byrne ruled the roost while half forwards Caolan Conway, Cian Gormley, David Campbell (who got a good goal), Keith Byrne and Mathew Geraghty kept the inside forwards well supplied.  In the full line as well as the [players mentioned at the start Luke Hyland (with a second half goal to his credit), Eoin Ryall and Jim Fuller were also prominent.  While Brigid’s scored three points in the second half Crokes were good value for their 4-1 to 0-3 win.
