Match Report/ Match Highlights:

Under 14 Hurlers – Scrape through

Games against Cuala are always tough and this one was no exception.

Crokes opened strongly and raced into a one goal (Eoin Dalton) and two point (Jamie & Matthew) lead, however a momentary lapse in the back line allowed Cuala to score a goal.  Crokes kept plugging away with Darren and Seanie (a Free) adding a point a piece before another lapse resulted in another Cuala goal, adding to an earlier converted free, allowed Cuala to draw level.  Crokes responded well and tagged on four unanswered points (Eddie, Jamie, Darren and Seanie (a free) leaving Crokes with a four point advantage at half time.

The second half was another roller coaster, Crokes, again, started brightly with two quick points from Seanie (1 free) and a well taken goal by Naomhan before we allowed another Cuala goal and then two minutes we allowed yet another goal in.  However, Crokes woke up and limited Cuala to three points for the rest of the match, while adding two goals (Darren and a great individual effort by Matthew) and four points (two each from Jamie (1 free) and Seanie (1 free).  In the end Crokes ran out winners with a 4 – 14 to 4 – 05 scoreline.

Overall, it was a better performance than against Ballyboden St Endas last week but still a lot of improvement is required if we are to compete against St Finbarrs in Saturdays Championship.
