Match Report/ Match Highlights:

Under 15 Hurlers – Maintain their discipline and secure important league win.

On a lovely early summers morning over in Dolphin Park, the Crokes Under 15 hurlers continued their Under 15 League campaign with a hard fought victory over an indisciplined Kevins side and have maintained their unbeaten league run. One more victory will guarantee a place in the Top 4 playoffs.

The game exploded into life after the throw in, Naomhan popped over a point in the first minute, Kevins equalised a minute from a well taken long range free. Then Crokes took control with some lovely play, Jamie regained the lead with a point in the third minute, Eddie won the puck out & hit a lovely ball into Johnny, who slotted it over the bar. Crokes again won the puck out and Naomhan won the pass from Jamie, rounded his man and hit the back of the net. In the 6th minute Jamie converted a free and three minutes Seanie McGrath grabbed his first point of the day. After ten minutes Crokes were a comfortable 1 –5 to 0-01 in front. Unfortunately, Kevins now started to play the man rather than the ball and also resorted to a lot of off the ball stuff, Crokes players were kicked and struck with the hurley numerous times off the ball. However, the Crokes players stood their ground and added another Jamie goal and two Seanie McGrath points (one from a free). Kevins were limited to two points (one from a free). At half time, Crokes held a comfortable lead of 2-07 to 0-03.

In the second half, Kevins continued their rough house tactics and disrupted the flow of the game. Crokes add a Seanie McGrath goal and another five points, two from Jamie (one 65), two from Seanie (one free) and one from Naomhan, while Kevins were limited to two goals. The main feature of the second half was the way Crokes maintained their discipline and continued to play hurling.

In the end Crokes ran out winners with a 3-12 to 2-03 margin. The next outing is against Erins Isle in the league on the 27th June ’06. Erins Isle are a tough team and will be difficult to overcome.
