Under 16A's complete double!

November and no let up.  Sunday 12th November 2006 saw the Kilmacud Crokes under 16’s complete the “A” Championship and League double with an emphatic 6-9 to 1-10 win over Ballyboden in the last game of the league at Ballycullen.  With Boden having dropped one point and Crokes two this was effectively the league decider.

Playing against the wind Crokes opened up a ten point lead in the first half only to see the home team claw it back to four by half time.  In the second half Crokes took over and brushed the Boden challenge aside.  Stars on the day included Barra O’Leidhin, Arthur :Lyons, Bill O’Carroll, Mark Coughlan, Naomhan O’Riordan, Kevin O’Loughlin, Matthew Kinsella and Eoin Culligan

Team:

Barry Mulligan, Gary McMorrow, Arthur Eastwood-Lyons, Donal Monnelly, Bill O’Carroll, Brian Hanamy, Niall Mulligan, Mark Coughlan, Ben Logan, Chris Cunningham, Eoin Culligan (0-3), Barra O’Leidhin (0-1), Kevin O’Loughlin (2-4, f -1, 65 -1), Matthew Kinsella (1-1), Naomhan O’Riordan (3-0).  Subs Alan Carr for Donal Monnelly, Sean McGrath for Ben Logan, Geoff Murphy, Jack Doughan.

Meanwhile at Hermitage the Under 12’s claimed runners up spot in the league with a 3-10 to 4-4 win over the same opposition in as fine a game as you could wish to see.  Playing against the wind and the hill Crokes trailed 4-3 to 2-3 at half time.  A powerful second half display against gritty opposition was required to claim the points but it was 56 minutes before Crokes went ahead and two late points including a beauty from Matthew McNicholas sealed the deal.
