Under 16B’s Reach County Final

In the first game of a double header on Saturday 29th September 2007 at Glenalbyn the under 16B’s recorded a very impressive 2-14 to 1-6 win over neighbours Naomh Olaf in the “D” championship semi-final.

Played in good conditions the first half was an even affair with a Crokes goal from a Barry Callinan free proving crucial.  The half back’s score was complimented by points from Thomas Clarke, Eoin Hyland, Keith Hogarty, Karl Russell and two each from Brendan Halpin and Mark Lynskey.  In reply to Croke’s 1-8 the visitors recorded 1-3.

Following the changeover an early Karl Russell point was cancelled by an Olaf’s score.  A goal from Mark Lynskey in the forty fifth minute widened the gap.  Olaf’s pulled a point back.  That was to be their last but one score. In the final ten minutes the Kilmacud boys pulled away with overs from Shane Horan, Keith Hogarty and Mark Lynskey (three).  Olafs did have the final word with a point to leave it 2-14 to 1-6 at the end.

Throughout Sean Garvey kept a good goal, well fronted by Cathal Burke, Darren Lalor and David Reilly.  In the half back line Killian Casey and Captain Barry Calanan had superb games ably assisted by Niall Cronin and later Brian O’Farrell.  Midfielder Fiachra Lynn worked hard all through while substitutes Brian English, Shane Harding, Brian McHenry and Joe Parsons made good contributions.

Congratulations to the players and management team and all concerned on reaching the county final, a feat emulated by their “A” counterparts over St Vincents in the game that followed.
