Minor A's overcome Cr Chiarain in Silverpark on Sunday 20 September.

Crokes minors got their championship bid back on track in Silver Park on Sunday with a solid performance against Craobh Chiaran.

The match was effectively won between the 15th and 25th minutes - when Crokes scored 2 goals, through Stevie O’Dwyer and Alex Considine, and 5 points from Johnny Maher frees - to one Chiarans’ point, to open up an 11 point lead at half time - 2.9 to 0.4.

The home team took no chances in the 2nd half and thanks much to the hard working midfield of Eoin Sheehy and Cathal Keane any chance of a comeback was snuffed out. Cillian Fleming dominated his square impressively while the full back line of Conor McNicholas, Darragh Butler and Stephen McEntee prevented any serious goal threat. The half back line of David Dagg, Tom Fox and Jim Gibbons was aggressive and assured while Mark O’Rourke and Ronan Hayes worked up and down the half forward line all day. Johnny Maher was unerring from frees, scoring 9 from 9, and also punched holes in the Chiaran’s defence all day having a hand in both goals. Stevie O’Dwyer and Alex Considine were always a threat in the full forward line while Fiachra O’Connor showed good form at 15.

Next up is Lucan on October 4th in another must win game.
