Victory for U16s v Crumlin

Body
Kilmacud travelled to Crumlin on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in anticipation of their opening championship match against an opposition that had defeated them earlier in the league. The game got off to a slow start and lacked the intensity of a typical championship match. Neither team dominated, but Crumlin started to win some early exchanges and began to take advantage of the breeze. Crokes backs held the line with Gary Mellican making some crucial interceptions. Both teams traded points but it was the stand out block by goalkeeper, Sean Garvey, that was the highlight of the first half.

Both teams went into the break level at 5 points eack. The second half was a completely different story and Kilmacud came out with increased intensity. But the increased intensity came at the cost of two second half injuries to James O'Keeffe and Karl Russell.  Crokes were now dominant, and the half back and midfield play by Jude Sweeney, Darren Lawlor, Alex Pilkinton and Dillon Mulligan set the platform for the now more active forwards. Long range points by Eoghan O'Dwyer, close in scores by Mark O'Dwyer,Karl Russel and Jonathan Healy Hayes, and two fine 65's by Alex Pilkinton settled it for Kilmacud, who ran out 0-14 to 0-7 winners.
