Click here for more on this matchIn Silverpark the intermediates played host to Whitehall Colmcille, trained by former Dublin player, Johnny McGurk (Craobh Chiaran).  This was a game of alternating scoring spurts.  After ten minutes Crokes led 0-4 to 0-1.  The visitors then went 1-4 to 0-4 clear.  At the break Crokes were 1-11 to 1-5 clear.  After eleven minutes of the second half the score stood at 1-12 to 2-8.  The home side responded with three unanswered white flags.  A pair of Whitehall overs reduced the gap to two points (1-15 to 2-10).  The clinching score came in the fifty seventh minute as Daibhi de Paor scooped to the net for Crokes.  A fine point from substitute, Liam Cantwell, completed the scores tally.  A late goal for Whitehall led to a few anxious minutes as the contest concluded 2-16 to 3-10 in Crokes favour.  For report see HERE

The same evening the Junior As’ trip to Tymon Park North was not as fruitful as they lost by three points to St Judes (1-18 to 2-12) in their opening championship game.  The sides were level 0-7 each at the interval, Crokes having trailed by six points at one stage.  There were good performances from Dave Canny at full back, Joe Walsh, midfield, and substitutes Conor Caulfield (1-1) and Alex Pilkington (1-0) while Dara Burke pointed eight frees.

On Thursday the Junior E’s faced Na Fianna in Silverpark.  The Kilmacud team overturned a half time deficit of two points to win 3-8 to 1-7.  For report see HERE

Lá na gClub

Following on from the success of 2009 the GAA has designated Sun May 9th as Lá na gClub.  For this reason the day has been kept fixture free to allow clubs organise their own events.

We will be running this year’s annual Festival of Hurling/Internal Sevens on the day.  The competition is open to current and ex-Hurlers and Camogie players from U16 upwards. Games will start at 1.30pm in Glenalbyn and the final will be at 5pm approx. Entry fee is €10 per player, which gets you your jersey and a burger or two.

Managers are asked to text panels to get commitments and all are requested to revert to Colm Maher (087-2755074, colm.maher@citi.com) with a final list of names and phone numbers by email before Wednesday May 5th.

Offers of team managers, referees, water carriers, umpires, chefs etc gratefully accepted.

Many thanks to Peter Walsh and Orpen Franks Solicitors for sponsoring the tee-shirts.
