Week Ending 7th March 2010

Body

High point of the week was the intermediate’s capture of the AHL4 league title with a final victory over O’Tooles on Wednesday night 3rd March 2010. This was a more convincing win at O'Tooles floodlit Blunden Drive than the 1-14 to 2-8 scoreline suggests. By the fifteenth minute Crokes led 1-3 to 0-1 and 1-8 to 1-3 at the short whistle. By the three quarter mark Crokes looked comfortable, 1-12 to 1-5 ahead. A quick goal and point reduced the margin to three. From then on O'Tooles pressed but, in spite of adding three points to Crokes two, could get no closer and the margin might have been greater but for the winners spurning a few point scoring chances.

Congratulations to the team and management on a deserved end to a long year that sees them promoted to AHL3 as champions.

On Saturday 6th March 2010 the under 16’s opened their Division 1 account with a 3-12 to 0-7 win over Cuala in Shanganagh. Crokes led 1-10 to 0-4 at the break and two late Barry Horan goals gilded the victory. For report see HERE

At the same time the Junior A’s were away to Kevins at Dolphins Barn in an Corn Ceitinn. A good opening installment saw them 1-3 to 0-4 in front after thirty minutes. Loss in concentration allowed the hosts back into the game and run out 2-9 to 2-6 winners in spite of the best efforts of James O’Keeffe, Dara Burke, Cormac O’Keeffe, Conor Caulfield and Jonathon Healy-Hayes

The under 15’s made the trip to Marino to take on St Vincents in Division 1 of the league.
