A great weekend’s hurling fest in Croke Park dominated the headlines.  With the main holiday period kicking in this was a light week for club fixtures. 

 

The principal news on the adult front was the release by Dublin County Board of the revised Senior championship fixture schedule:

 

 

Round 1                      Tuesday           28th August

 

Round 2                      Wed/Thurs      12th/13th September

 

Round 3                      Saturday          29th September

 

Quarter Finals             Sat/Sun            13th/14th October        

 

Camant was the name of the game for the under 11’s and under 12’s on Tuesday 24th July and Wednesday 25th July respectively.  The under 11’s travelled to Erins Isle, beating the hosts and St Vincent’s and losing to Setanta.  The following evening the under 12’s were in St Anne’s Park and had victories over St Vincents (5-1 to 0-1) and Clontarf (0-1 to 0-0).  They have now qualified for the knock out stages.

 

Friday evening took the intermediates to Clonshaugh for a league game against Craobh Chiaran.  The home side took the spoils.  Best for Crokes were Shane McNicholas, Conor Clinton, Tomas Donoghue, Brian Hanamy, Eoin Culligan and Neil Casey.

 

On Saturday the under 12’s entertained Crannford of Wexford in Oatlands.  An entertaining game saw the visitors, en route to Croke Park, emerge 3-4 to 2-4 winners.  Crokes stars included Michael O’Dwyer Oran O’Siochru Cormac Cullinane, Ciaran McIntyre and Conor Gowing.

 

On Sunday Camross of Laois visited for a minor challenge at Silverpark with Crokes coming out on top by a three points after a competitive game.  To the fore for the home team were Eddie O’Byrne, Ronan Walsh, Niall Butler Ciaran O’Grady and Barry Mulligan.
