Weekend reports for 12 and 19 July 2009
An under 12 squad participated in the annual County Board organised Alan Cregan tournament on Saturday 11th July 2009 and progressed to the quarter fianl. For report see ?link. On the same date the Junior B’s were scheduled to travel to Cashel for a challenge while the under 10’s hosted Whitehall in a friendly at Glenalbyn and won 4-5 to 2-2
Meteor Kilmacud Crokes All Ireland Hurling Sevens 2009
On Saturday the 5th of September 2009 Kilmacud Crokes Hurling will host the 36th All Ireland Sevens tournament. Now a landmark event in the annual GAA calendar over seventy teams from all over the country will participate.
Kilmacud Crokes and Dublin Hurling are on an exciting journey. Highlights over the past 12 months include:
ü Dublin reaching senior and U21 Leinster finals 2009 – strong Crokes representation on both squads
ü Crokes had 8 players on the Dublin South colleges panel 2008 – Leinster Colleges league winners
ü Crokes senior team reached 2008 county final
ü Completion of a state of the art hurling arena
ü Provision of a full-time hurling coaching service
ü Development of All-Weather training facilities
ü In June 09 Kilmacud Crokes hosted a mini All Ireland tournament for U-6 to U-12 with in excess of 1000 kids participating. Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí!

Week Ending 19th July 2009
On Wednesday 15th July 2009, Dublin playing in their seventh final of the decade, faced Kilkenny in the culmination of the Leinster Under 21 Hurling Championship at Parnell Park. An opening scoring spree of 1-3 without reply gave the Cats a cushion which, try as gamely as Dublin did, the Metropolitans could not overhaul and the cup went Noreside on a 2-20 to 1-19 margin. Kilmacud Crokes was well represented on the night with Barry O’Rorke (scorer of two good points and always a threat), Conor Clinton (0-3 from midfield), Ronan Walsh at wing back and Rory O’Carroll filling the No 6 spot. Also on the panel were Kevin and Rob O’Loughlin. For report check back later.
The Crokes hurling week opened with a six point win for the intermediates in AHL Division 4 at Silverpark over St Finians on Tuesday July 14th 2009. With the newly promoted Swords team pressing strongly, it took a late goal from substitute Jonathon Healy-Hayes to seal the deal.
Thursday 16th July 2009 produced a mixed bag of results. The Junior B’s took the game to the wire but just could not get the goal that would have overturned the two point lead that was enough to give Craobh Chiaran victory at Silverpark in AHL Division 5. The Junior C3’s had better luck in AHL Division 8 at Blakestown against St Peregrines where they recorded a 3-11 to 3-5 victory. Star performances came from Pat Kennedy, Hugh Liston, Aidan Hudner, Niall McIntyre and Fergal Monnelly
Three teams were in action on Saturday. In AHL Division 1 the seniors came away from Shankill with a 3-11 to 1-17 draw against Cuala. At the break Crokes led 1-8 to 0-9 having played with the breeze. Crokes came back well having been four points down with ten minutes remaining - two late goals coming from Peter Clinton and Kevin O’Loughlin, a 20 metre free. In goal Eoin Dalton made a number of good saves. He was well fronted by Niall Lillis and Hugh Gannon while midfielder Shea Gillen had a steady hour. Up front Ronan Walsh was most prominent in the first half and Kevin O’Loughlin in the second.

Back in Silverpark the intermediates were a little unlucky to go down 1-10 to 1-8 in their fifth round robin championship game to Thomas Davis. Crokes went a point clear with five minutes left only for Thomas Davis to goal almost immediately. Over the hour if Crokes had been able to take the scoring chances on offer the result might have been different. An under 15/16 squad took the road to Thurles for the All-Ireland qualifiers with a challenge against Holycross en route. The home team was 1-3 to 0-1 clear after ten minutes. Some positional changes saw Crokes gain the upper hand only to be reeled in and the first half ended 2-7 (Crokes) to 1-10. An early burst on the resumption resulted in four unanswered points for the home team and this proved to be bulk of the margin at the finish (2-14 to 2-9).

On Sunday July 19th in JHC B2 at Silverpark Crokes hosted Civil Service. A great second half fight back from an eight point interval deficit was just thwarted when the visitors scored 1-1 in injury time to claim the round robin points by 3-10 to 3-9. At the time of writing it looks as if results elsewhere mean Crokes go straight through to the semi finals.
In the afternoon the Junior C3’s put in a very good JHC E2 performance at Poppintree before going down 2-12 to 1-6. The game was in the balance up to the last seven or eight minutes when Setanta scored a goal and two points to put themselves out of reach. Among Crokes best were Niall Linehan, Aidan Hudner, Pat Kennedy and Hugh Liston.
Next Sunday 26th July Dublin play Limerick in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship quarter final at Thurles. All support for the Dubs with Crokes Niall Corcoran and Ross O’Carroll on board greatly appreciated.

The Hurling Nursery continues on Saturdays in Glenalbyn - at 9am for boys born 2002 and at 10am for boys born 2001 and 2003.
Communication with parents is by both e-mail and by text. We strongly encourage parents to subscribe to our tacutext texting service in order to be kept fully informed of team notices, training news, change of venue/pick-up times, etc. specific to your son's group. We appeal to all parents of the new group to offer assistance in any way possible. No previous coaching experience is required and even periodic help is better than none at all. The success of the club relies on volunteers and it is a great way of getting to know other parents. If you are willing to offer any assistance in any capacity, whether it be coaching, roll, setting up pitches, tidying up pitches, etc. etc. please contact any of the following:
