Paris Gaels Tournament 2019:

We traveled to Paris on Thursday night with the majority of the group and were delighted to have an extra day and night to explore the city. We spent most of Friday walking through the famous sites, at the Christmas markets, and up to the hills of Montmartre . We finished off the day with dinner just south of the seine and we met the Friday night arrivals by the Eiffel Tower.

After a very early bakery run on Friday we headed to Vincennes, croissants in hand and got ready for the day ahead. Our first game kicked off at 9.35am and we played 5 games through out the day. Just before lunch time we got chatting to Barry Ward the Blackrock counsellor who became our new supporter for the remainder of the day. He chatted with us during breaks and stood by the line for our last few games. It will brilliant getting to meet so many of the other teams and players and the day ended with a lovely ceremony with the mayor of Vincennes. KC won the tournament and our captain Aoife Gallagher won player of the tournament so it was success all round for the team! Aoife and Meabh (in French) kindly thanked Paris Gaels and Vincennes for organizing the day and we said that we hoped to be back again next year.

That night we headed to a restaurant in the 20th arr with all the teams and organizers for dinner, drinks and so on. All in all it was an absolutely brilliant trip and we hope we represented the club and parish well. Thank you to Annemarie, Catherine, Tony, and all of the committee for their help in organizing this trip, we were delighted to have the opportunity to play football in Paris.
