The last Go Games of the Season

The last Go Games before the Summer brought 50 girls from Crokes, Naomh Olafs and Foxrock Cabinteely together for a great set of matches on Saturday morning in Deerpark. A few of our girls had to play with the other teams, but as a result we had no girls sitting waiting as sub and they played equally enthusiastically with the opposition – with scores and all! Well done to those who volunteered for each match.

Our girls were great on the attack, with plenty of determination to score over and under the bar. When playing midfield the girls were eager to win every ball and kick it down to the forwards, but when the opposition managed to get it, our defenders were there to shadow and near-hand tackle the ball back into possession and our goalies had a few great saves! Well done girls for a fantastic display of football.

We had our own little award ceremony at the end of training last week, with girls winning prizes for being best at catching, shadowing, kicking, near-hand tackling and bursting through, and we also had winners in other categories including the best at turning up to training, the best behaved, the most polite, the most enthusiastic and those with the best smiles. We had a special award for our most recent recruits and another for our most improved players. But to be honest, all the girls deserved multiple prizes, because they are a fantastic bunch of energetic superstars and we look forward to seeing them all at training over the summer (when they are not off on holidays).
