U8 girls second Go Game

It was a misty moisty morning on Saturday, 29th, but that didn't dampen the enthusiasm of 36 u/8 Crokes girls who turned up at Kilbogget Park to play their second go game against FoxrockCabinteely. We had five teams to play against FoxrockCabs' three, so we played two sets of four games, with all the girls playing all the time (quite a necessity on a morning like it was!) – I'm sure some of the parents wished they were also playing as they huddled together under umbrellas on the sideline with squelchy wet shoes and cold hands! Thumbs up to them too for coming out on the morning.

The two squads were very well matched, with no team dominating and both sides giving each other plenty of challenge. We had great displays of teamwork, shadow tackling and finding space to escape with the ball when in possession. They really played magnificently.

Being such a large squad the girls don't always know everyone on their team, so it's lovely to observe the bonding that happens between the girls at the games – they sometimes come away with a new best friend, or two! And sure, that's what it's all about.
