At the Races...Friday the 14th was Race Night at Glenalbyn and as usual when it comes to the races, the ladies (and the gents) turned out in style. Betting was fierce and when the auction started for the last race the bidding started in earnest. Kerry (john Joe Young's table) and Cavan (John Sheridan's gang) saw out the bidding war with contributions from the other tables to ensure that no-one withdrew too early. Kerry emerged victorious much to the delight of John Joe, however it was the Mayo (Pig!) with its hilarious knitted red and green jockey that raced across the finishing line.  See all the pics at this Link

Spot prizes were the order of the night for those willing to embarass themselves in some fun and frolics (we had no lack of volunteers). The ladies emerging victorious in the challenge involving both sexes (as you would expect!) Finally The main prize of a Philips telly was won by the Casey Clan (well done Therese). Then the lads whipped out the Karaoke and we had some very dubious singing and even more dubious dance moves. It was greatly appreciated (at that time of the night) by the attendees.

To all the business who supported us, (Mcgowans, Hill 16 and Quinns Pubs, VHI Swiftcare , Pamela Renwick, Power Plant Hire and Sales, OLM consultancy, Radisson Blu Hotel and Spa Galway, South wood Manufacturers Ltd.,the Irish Daily Star and Philips) A heartfelt thanks to you all particularly in these very difficult economic times.

Well done to our fundraising committee and all those who helped in any way selling tickets, obtaining sponsorship, and to the parents and families for all their support, but in particular Martina and all the seniors who put in such a tremendous effort. Well done girls, this money will go a long way to advancing ladies football in the club...
