Men’s Shed
The KCMS was established in January 2023 to provide an outlet for men, typically retired, in the greater Kilmacud/Stillorgan area to meet up and undertake different activities as part of a group. We are actively seeking to new members. We currently operate out of facilities provided to us by Kilmacud Crokes GAA Club but you do not have to be a member of Kilmacud Crokes GAA Club to join the Men’s Shed.
Who are we
The KCMS is a Men’s Shed located in the Kilmacud/Stillorgan area and is affiliated to the Irish Men’s Shed Association (IMSA). We currently operate from facilities provided to us at Glenalbyn House by Kilmacud Crokes GAA Club/KGSC. The group was established in January 2023 and meets every Monday at 11am in Glenalbyn House to discuss and plan events.
What we do
We provide our members with the facility to get involved in a number activities, including Gardening, Pitch & Putt, Card Schools, Hill-walking, Cycling, Cultural Tours and we also facilitate attendance by our members at events hosted by other organisations e.g. Kilmacud Stillorgan Historical Society. We have already conducted tours of Dáil Éireann, the Custom House area, tracked the trail of the stream which runs from Stillorgan to the sea, hence place names like – Lakelands and the Millhouse. Our gardening group are undertaking regular maintenance of the grounds of the Laura Lynn facility at Leopardstown Road and some of our members have been involved in painting some of the walls surrounding Glenalbyn House. The Shed is relatively new and we are, over time, hoping to expand on the list of activities that are being undertaken. Ultimately we are a member-driven organisation and we look to the members to help us add to the activities that we undertake.
What to do next
You are welcome to come along to our weekly meeting (normally held 11am on Mondays in the large function room in Kilmacud Crokes clubhouse, Eircode A94 E7K8. Alternatively, feel free to contact any of the KCMS Committee, see their contact details below. There is an annual membership fee (€50 currently) but new members are entitled to use the facilities of the Shed for an initial four week period without any commitment on their part.
