Annual Purple and Gold Golf Outing

The annual Kilmacud v Taghmon (Wexford) golf outing for the "Purple and Gold Trophy" was held at Woodenbridge Golf Club (Avoca) on Sunday 18th Oct.
Despite the counter attraction of a 1pm kick off in the most important Irish rugby fixture in a decade, golf members showed commendable loyalty to the Society by turning out in time for an ungodly early start and giving of their best to defend our hold on this trophy.  Unfortunately, on the day, best was not good enough and Taghmon enjoyed a deserved victory on a score of 6 matches to 2 with 2 halved. As a result Taghmon players collected most of the prizes.

Crokes members who held their own were Conor Noone (longest drive), Kevin Leahy (nearest pin) and Gerry Greene and Billy Finn (Front 9).  Congratulations to all the winners.  In presenting the Trophy, captain, Billy Noctor, congratulated Taghmon on their victory and thanked all who participated in what was an enjoyable social occasion.  He complimented Woodenbridge on the condition of the, course which provided a good golfing challenge. Roll on 2016 when incoming captain, Gerry Greene, will hope to have a strong team to regain this Trophy.
