The annual ‘Mini All Ireland’ blitz in Kilmacud Crokes is probably the biggest internal GAA blitz of its kind anywhere. It is usually held in June each year and now runs over 4 weeks. Approximately 2,000 young players from the ages of 5 to 12 will play on a team over the 4 weeks.
Each year/gender will divide into teams and then play games against each other. The teams are balanced to allow for maximum enjoyment and participation. Each team is named after a county and each player gets a team t-shirt to wear for the matches. It’s a non-competitive and fun event with each team managed by 13, 14 and15 year olds from the club and our U16 & Minor players have the task of refereeing the games.
During the first week there are 5 evenings of Boys Football, followed in the second week with a feast of Camogie. This is followed by Hurling and the blitz culminates in a week of Ladies Football. The games are played from 4.30 to 8.00 each evening.
