Mattie Fox - RIP

Body

The death has taken place in London of Mattie Fox formerly of Carnmore, County Galway who played hurling with Carnmore, Galway, Crokes,  Kilmacud Crokes and Dublin. The late Mattie won four Dublin Senior Hurling Championships in Dublin. He joined Crokes Hurling club in the late fifties and won his first county title in 1963 representing Crokes on the Dublin Junior Selection which won that year. He then went on to win County Championships with Kilmacud Crokes in 1966,1974 and 1976. Mattie represented Galway from 1958 when he played in the All-Ireland final against Tipperary untill the late sixties. He also played with Connacht in the Railway Cup in 1959 and in 1966..In 1966 he was selected at left corner forward on the Gaelic Weekly All-Star team of the year a fore runner to the current All-Stars. He also played with Dublin winning a Walsh Cup medal.
