Minor A's Top Group

The Minor A team played their last round robin championship match on Sunday 10th October 2010 against Na Fianna at Silverpark.

On a soft pitch for hurling the match was very competitive from the off with Crokes the first to score with three frees from Ken Kelly.  Crokes were under a lot of pressure and while they defended in numbers Na Fianna equalised with a well taken goal.  With Dillon Mulligan, Gary Melican and James O'Keeffe to the fore Crokes  came more into the game and dominated the rest of the half with Oisin O'Rorke scoring a fine goal and a point helped by minors from Mark O'Dwyer and Alex Pilkington. At half time the score was Crokes 1-7 Na Fianna 1-1.

Crokes were sent out for the second half expecting an onslaught from Na Fianna who had to win to stay in the championship.  Ken Kelly struck a minor.  Na Fianna now threw everything at Crokes but our full back line was up to the challenge and limited them to 3 points in the next 10 minutes. Following a fine passage of play between Jude Sweeney and Jonathan Hayes, Oisin O'Rorke scored another goal. Crokes dug in again and Tom Clarke threw over two fine points from broken play. Na Fianna came at us and in a sustained bout of pressure forced a goal despite the heroics of Conor Devins and Sean Garvey. However Ken put over two more frees and a lovely point from Jude left the final score Crokes 2-14 Na Fianna 2-6.

This now puts us in the semi final against Castleknock on the 24th of October.
