U8's Third Go Game Challenge

On the second day of their Easter holidays, 26 u/8 Crokes girls made their way over west of the city to play two teams from Lucan Sarsfields and a third from Na Fianna. We even had one girl who was celebrating her 8th birthday on the day – now that's dedication!

The girls played some great football, with kicking skills coming on with each match. We saw some great gaelic football bursts through the opposition and we had a few demonstrations of solos by a couple of our players. Bravo girls! Some girls got a few knocks, but nothing a bit of cooling arnica gel couldn't sort out.

The young refs were fantastic – they were quick to pick the girls up on common errors such as over-carrying, slapping the ball out of the opponents hands and picking up the ball with knees on the ground... a couple of our own players was even asked to remove their earrings! The great thing was that they took a few seconds each time to explain why they were giving a free and that's a great way for the girls to learn.
