Match Report/ Match Highlights:

This Crokes team went out in confident mode to take on Faughs in the first round of the B championship. This team is currently on top of the Division 4 league.

The teams display was first class on the night, a game that Crokes dominated from the throw in to the final whistle. We had great displays from our full back line of Chris, Shane and Paddy Igoe, which was well supported by the centre line of Brian Hanamy (replaced H.T.by Arthur who gave a rock solid display) Alan (replaced 55min by Niall Mc Intyre) and Richie. Karl and Kevin were outstanding at midfield. The half forward line performance was one of true grit - well done to Ciaran, Brian and Peter. The inside line was where it all happened with a wizard like performance from Kevin who replaced Will after 15 mins, and he was well supported by Niall (played the Captains part) and Timmy who was replaced by Eoin, who also gave a wiry performance.

Many thanks to Pat Fenlon and Ken Hanamy for supplying us with six of his u16 players which included the likes of Barra O Leidhn, Gary McMorrow, Niall Mulligan, Chris Cunningham, and of course Brian and Arthur. I believe all six are playing great hurling with the U.16, well done to them. Although most of them did not get a game they indeed in time will add great ability to this team

This was a great Thursday evening for young men to ply their trade. We started off very strongly and scored two points from Ciaran O Grady. Faughs responded with two points from frees after 10 minutes. Brian Mahon scored a great point (12mins) from an interchange of play with Ciaran. Kevin then added three points from frees after 23mins. Brian finished our first half scoring on 27 mins with another great interchange of play between Ciaran and Kevin, before Faughs added another point from a free. One of our main concerns at half time was the many wides we had which should have been converted into scores.

Half Time Score 7 points to 3.

We started the second half strongly but didn’t convert our chances. Kevin scored a point from a free after 35mins. Faughs moved quickly up the pitch and their no 11 took on our defence and was duly flattened by a shoulder from Arthur. Unfortunately we conceded a free outside the 21 and they scored a goal from a fabulous strike from their no15. There was nothing between the teams and Crokes raised their game .We scored another point from a free from Kevin, on 40 mins. Faughs scored two more points over the next 5 mins.We then scored two more points through Kevin (F) and Ciaran from play. On the 28th minute Faughs nearly scored another goal from a free which came off the bottom of the left hand post. Crokes responded with another fine point from Ciaran O’Grady.
