Feile na nGael - Thank You!

Body

Feile na nGael began in lovely sunshine on Thursday when our U14s defeated the visitors Kilmessan by 2 points in a hard fought match. The teams were equally matched and the game could have gone either way. It was a great start for Crokes. The parade down through Stillorgan village caused great excitement - maybe we should do it annually!  The parade in town was a spectacular affair and it was a great event for our young players to be associated with.

Friday's group matches took place in terrible conditions with rain falling heavily throughout the day. This did not however, dampen the ambition of the teams taking part. The Crokes girls had a tough defeat in the opening match against Inagh Kilnamona who were really a class ahead of all others in the group. This team went on to win all their matches and won the final in Croke Park. The last of the group matches for Crokes was against Castleknock which they won easily enough. The girls won two out of the three games and only lost to the eventual winners so we are very proud of them. Great credit to David, Odette, Micheal and Ciaran for their management of this team throughout the whole feile process.

A great social night in the club followed with a Feile Factor version of X Factor being performed by all six teams, the three Crokes teams and the three visiting teams. Finola Doran deserves special mention here for her fabulous work with our girls for their performance. They were brilliant. With a BBQ and disco going on in the function room and the bar full upstairs it was a great night in the club. Many thanks to the Geraghtys, Father and Son, and Jacinta Dwyer who spent the night out in the pouring rain, manning the bbq and delivering the food into the function room to the starving hordes!

A huge thank you to all of you involved in making this day a success. Too many names to mention everyone. A text which came from the hurlers captures it all....it is a credit to each and every one of you that the feile ran so well and our guests so well looked after. For all the sandwiches and cakes, the pitch management and facilities and the organisers - the hurling and camogie community can be justifiably proud. Well Done. Our sentiments exactly
