Feile Trip 2012
Under 14 Camogie Team Trip to Wexford
On Saturday 11th of February, forty six excited Camogie players and Ladies Footballers boarded a coach for Wexford.
On the way to Wexford, they stopped off for an afternoon of adventure and bonding in Wicklow.
After staying overnight in Wexford, both our camogie girls and the ladies footballers played a match against local opposition.
The first stop was in the wonderful setting of Kippure Adventure Centre in Co. Wicklow. There the girls were put through their paces in challenging trapeze, high wire and climbing activities. Each team of six or eight girls had to work together in a series of tasks that challenged their bravery, skill and teamwork. It was startling to watch the girls so high up in the air and to hear the laughter and fun that they were having. It was a great way for the girls to bond. We were all blessed with good weather.
Next stop was our hotel in Wexford, where the girls settled enthusiastically into their rooms. Then they went for a swim in the pool .
Afterwards a starving bunch of girls had dinner followed by a special Féile Cake to celebrate the weekend away.
The following morning, a huge breakfast was had by all before embarking for Shelmaliers to play a Camogie match and a Football match.
It was a beautiful sunny morning and our camogie girls ran the pitch with ease, despite their lack of sleep. It was a marvelous opportunity to play Buffers Alley, who are one of the best know hurling clubs of Wexford.
Our camogie girls put in a tremendous display and won 3-4 to 1-0. This impressed many of their football mentors and team mates, seeing them playing camogie for the first time.
This is a special year with the National Féile being held in Dublin and we have started the campaign with a set of memories for the girls to treasure.
