Minor B's bounce back at Páirc de Burca

MHL Division 3; Kilmacud Crokes 2-16, St Finians 2-06.

In a novel outing at Pairc de Burca the Minor Bs  enjoyed their first win of 2012 in an entertaining encounter with St Finians (Swords)

The opening exchanges suggested 2 well matched teams with both defences on top. Crokes started to win more possession but found the Finians rearguard unyielding, Crokes were rocked by a slightly fortuitous goal and had to work hard to get back parity at half-time.

All to play for both sides in the 2nd half and Crokes got on top in mid-field  and this was reflected by a fine point on the run by O’Dwyer; However with about 15 mins remaining Finians worked a goal from a tight angle and further point put the Northsiders in the lead. However the Crokes stepped up the contest all over the pitch – and the pressure told on the St Finians defence several more indiscretions continued to be punished by the unerring accuracy of Ó Gallchobhair’s free taking – Yet it was only until a brace of well-taken goals from O’Shea and Healy-Hayes in the final minutes that the local lads could be sure the job was done.

St Finians were well supported on their long trip over and contributed to a fine game on a fine day. The Crokes management were heartened by the improvement of the team during the match and overall level of commitment.
