Minors beat Whitehall

Body

The minor team travelled to Cloghran on Monday night to take on Whitehall. On a lovely night for hurling 20 players togged out and all got at least 30 minutes each.  The Crokes team took command from an early stage with scores from Jonathan Hayes and Eoghan O’ Dwyer.  Our half backs of Louis Whelan, Jack Doughan and Gary Melican were dominant under the dropping ball and cleared every ball setting up our forwards for some lovely scores the pick of which was a lovely overhead catch and turn from Keith Hogarty to score a great goal. At half time we led by 2 -8 to 0- 3. For the second half we introduced our 5 subs and continued where we left off. Naomhan Riordan and Cillian Doherty drove through the Whitehall defence to set up scores for our forwards. The highlight of the second half was Darren McVeigh scoring three successive points from out on the sideline having caught the ball from our puck outs. In the end we won by 4 20 to 1 6. This sets us up nicely for our league match on Friday night against Naomh Fhionnbarra at 7pm in Silverpark.
